DIY Lilly Binder Covers

Hey Everyone!
I have received lots of questions about how to make your own Lilly Pulitzer Binder Covers so I wanted to explain how I made my own.

1) To begin, I googled "Lilly Pulitzer Print Wallpaper" and found the print that I wanted to use to make my binder covers. I also have a lot saved on my Pinterest "Pulitzer" board. For this tutorial, I used the print "Jellies Be Jammin".

2) Next, I clicked on the image and I saved it as a JPG to my desktop.

3) I used the website Canva.com to make my binder covers. The "Poster" design works best for a binder cover.

4) When you click on the "Poster" design, this screen will open up. Click on "Upload your own images" and choose the Lilly Print that you saved. I clicked on it and just uploaded it straight from my desktop. Your image will pop up in the bottom left corner of the screen and you just need to click on the image for it to open on the template.

  5) Once your image is uploaded, Go to the "text" tab on the left side. Here you can pick and click  through different text layouts. Make sure you pick one that says "free" so that you won't be charged.

6) I scrolled down a bit until I reached these layouts. I ended up picking the white ribbon one. Each one is customizable with colors and fonts though. Click on the text layout that you want and it will pop up on the poster screen.

7) One the text layout is on the screen, you can customize it by clicking through colors and different fonts. Personally, I like the font that comes with this design so I just change my colors. I have found that a white or off-white color works best for a background. Next, I typed in the name of my course. For the text color and border color, I like to choose a color that is found in the print to compliment it.

8) One everything is the way you want it, hit the download button at the top right and then hit "Image: for Web (JPG)".

9) Next, hit save File and then drag it from your Downloads file to your desktop. Lastly, just print it out and you have your very own binder cover!

Gallery Wall Craft

Hi everyone!
Today I'm sharing another DIY Lilly Pulitzer Post. One of my friends, Rachel, wanted to make a gallery wall for her dorm. She sent me a Pin that had the idea to use Kate Spade wrapping paper inside a frame for a gallery wall picture. I thought this was a great idea, but I lacked Kate Spade wrapping paper, so I used Lilly Pulitzer tissue paper. Any sort of wrapping paper or tissue paper will work for this DIY. I went to my local Lilly Signature Store, The Pink Crab, and asked for some extra tissue paper with my purchase. They gladly gave me 6 extra sheets! If you don't have any Lilly Tissue Paper, you can use cute wrapping paper or any sort of fun print or paper you like. The thicker the paper the better though, so wrapping paper is probably best. For my frame, I bought a simple white frame from Ikea

Steps:

1. Gather Supplies: Scissors, Frame, Wrapping/Tissue Paper

2. Put the frame on the Paper to measure and pick which part of the paper you would like to use.

3. Cut the paper out.

4. Secure the paper in the frame. (Mine was a picture frame so I just put the paper in and then secured the back into place)

5. Your frame is now done! You can hang it on a wall with 3M Strips or prop it on a desk if it is a picture frame.

If you try this, let me know! Another fun idea would be to print out Lilly Prints and put them inside! Feel free to show me your ideas!
I hope you enjoy!

Two Bees Cashmere

Hi everyone!
Recently I won an Instagram loop giveaway and today I'm sharing one of my favorite items.
I won a Two Bees Cashmere Sweater and it's now one of my favorite additions to my closet. It's my first piece of cashmere and I love the nautical details in the sweater. Two Bees recently added many new sweaters for the fall season and I highly recommend buying one!

A Guide to the Lilly Pulitzer Sale

Hi everyone!

Today I'm excited to blog about the upcoming Lilly Pulitzer Sale! Rumors are that the sale will begin tomorrow August 17th at 8am.

To prepare for that, here is a Guide to the Lilly Pulitzer Sale.

1. Know what you want before hand. It always helps me to make a list of things that I've had my eye on. Also, know which kinds of styles you like and articles of clothing you want or even prints you love (i.e. shift dresses, skirts, tunics, tops). By making a list, you can easily cross off items once you buy them to help keep track of everything you want to buy.

2. Know your sizes! It makes online shopping so much faster. If you haven't been able to hop in a store to try on sizes, you can always use the Lilly Pulitzer size charts! If you're not sure on a size, you could always buy 2 sizes and sell the other on Ebay or Poshmark, but it's a whole lot easier to know your size and buy 1 size.

3. Have a budget! It's very easy to get carried away and spend a lot of money. It's best to limit yourself to a budget to avoid this. Since it is a sale, I tend to splurge a bit but I still keep a budget to keep me in check.

4. Check out your closet before hand. If you do want to splurge and have old Lilly that you don't always wear, you could sell it and make money for new Lilly. Checking your closet also reminds you of pieces that you have so that you can make sure you don't buy something too similar.

5. Go to your local Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store. Mine, The Pink Crab in Downtown Annapolis, began their in-store sale today. I was able to snag a few cute pieces before the Lilly online sale as well as get an idea for pieces that may be online.

6. Wake up early on the sale day and be ready by your computer. The rumor is that it will begin August 17th at 8am, so be prepared for it to be at that time. I like to be sitting at my computer about 10-15 minutes before an online sale begins just so I'm ready with my list! If you can't be at a computer, you could always use your phone or have someone else buy for you (i.e. your mom, your sister, your best friend).

7. During the online sale, move quickly but also be patient. With so many girls trying to buy items, the website might crash. If your website doesn't crash, move quickly and buy what you can as fast as you can. If your website does crash, be patient because it should be up later.

8. My favorite hack: Another option is to try your local Lilly signature store's website. Most signature stores have their sale online as well, so you can always buy the items off their website! And most websites that sell Lilly will have the sale as well. By going to one of these websites, it can avoid the chance of having the website crash since most people will be buying directly off of Lilly's website. My local store, The Pink Crab, will be starting their online sale tomorrow August 17th. That is also a great website to buy Lilly off of.

9. Be creative and keep an open mind! I am a size small but found the cutest XL top that will make for the best dress with a bandeau under it! If the sale runs out of sizes quickly (which it probably will), consider buying a larger size and being creative to make it fit.

I hope this was able to help you all! If you have any other ideas feel free to share them in the comments! Have fun and happy shopping!

Cape May: Watch Out!

Hey everyone!
After a very busy summer, I'm happy to be back at my favorite beach and spend time with my family. Plus, it gives me time to catch up on blogging. Today, I'm excited to share my new skirt and super cute Jack Roger's knock-offs with you. I scored this skirt from ShopLaurenBerry on Etsy. I found it off of her tumblr: pointerprep.tumblr.com. I also bought a pair of knock-off Jacks from Palms Sandals. They're super comfy and look just like real Jacks. I love how well they pair with this skirt too! I'm obsessed with the "Watch Out" Print and was so ecstatic to find it in Lauren Berry's Etsy shop. And who wouldn't love a scalloped skirt?!? I recommend grabbing one of her skirts while you can! They are perfect for summer! I hope you enjoy!
